Aquacells Systems

The SifonikaAquaCell System consists of polypropylene modules joined together forming a self-supporting structure. This structure when coated with a geotextile allows water stored therein to flow outside infiltrating the ground. The geotextile prevents aggregates to enter the tank filling it. If the tank is coated with a geomembrane (PVC sheet or PE), water does not infiltrate into the soil and is retained in the tank.

 

The technique of modular structures for deposit formation is widely tested and proven with SifonikaAquaCell modules, being its application a good way to manage the rains, and to reduce the risk of flooding or damage to the environment.

 

For applications with traffic, AquaCell Blue (blue units).

 

For landscape uses without traffic loads, AquaCell Lite (green units) is used, they are lightweight and versatile units. Polypropylene provides lightness and strength. The porosity is (95%). The AquaCell units are firmly bonded together by special Vertical clips and connectors. They can be assembled quickly on site with a custom configuration for each case.

• Specially designed to provide a more cost effective option The modules are coated depending on their use: infiltration or storage. For permeable soils, the geotextile allows infiltration of rainwater in the surrounding soil. When the soil is impervious (clay, for example) or when infiltration is not desirable, a geomembrane (PVC or PE foil) is placed around the tank. Thus the water is encapsulated within the reservoir. If used as a retaining tank, water is retained until the sewer are less saturated. If used as a storage tank, the water is retained until use.

AquaCell Lite system provides a large hollow volume, modular unit for the assembly and installation of an underground storage tank or rainwater infiltration tank.

 

Designed to be installed in parks and gardens where there is not high risk of vertical load weight (traffic).

AquaCell System Installation

The main requirements for installing AquaCell Lite Blue or AquaCell are to provide:

• Levelling of the foundation on which to build the system.

• Adequate quality, properly compacted. There are some recommendations to consider for handling and storage of AquaCell Blue and AquaCell Lite units in the work listed below:

• Protect the unit from direct sources of heat and light, such as sunlight.

• Place AquaCell pallets on the ground, do not stack the units individually.

• When stacking single units, DO NOT stack more than two units high.

• Although AquaCell and AquaCell Lite units contain an inhibitor to provide resistance to ultraviolet rays for up to six months, avoid prolonged storage in direct sunlight.

• DO NOT store units near the fuel tanks or any other solvent.

• Although the units are robust and resistant to shock when normally handled, store them where they can avoid the impacts of vehicles. AquaCell and AquaCell Lite units individually weight 9kg and 7 kg respectively, so they can usually be handled safely in the work. Install infiltration tank: the AquaCell design and installation manual provides instructions and the method for a complete installation of AquaCell and AquaCell Lite systems. Below there is a summary walkthrough for the installation of a system designed for infiltration procedure. Pre-installation: pipes that provide the input flow should be connected to the tank at the top of the AquaCell / AquaCell Lite structure.

 

Execution Order: the steps to prepare the space where you will install the tank infiltration are:

• dig a hole that allows the correct compaction of the floor and sides.

• The base of the hole must have a smooth surface and be levelled.

• The side walls of the hole must be run with a safe angle or adequate support.

• Check for any soft material at the base of the hole. If any, remove and fill with granular filling material.

• Spread a layer of sand with a thickness of 100 mm, levelling and compacting.

• Place the geotextile on the bottom and the sides of the excavation hole.

• Attach AquaCell / AquaCell Lite units mutually parallel in a "brick wall", as necessary, ensuring that continuous vertical seals are avoided.

• The attachment clips are placed bonding units of the same level.

• Vertical clips and connectors allow attachment of layers of different levels.

• Finish wrapping the geotextile structure formed by AquaCell units, ensuring that the base, sides and top of the tank are covered.

• Install the input pipes, the tank inlet and the spillway.

• Fill the gap around the installation with suitable compacted material in layers of 150mm each.

• Place a thick layer of sand on top of the tank, protecting the units.

• Continue filling with (traffic zones - AquaCell) sub-base compacted material type 1 or 2 in 150mm layers. (Garden area - AquaCell or AquaCell Lite) With excavation material when it is under 75 mm and with a compactation level of 90%. NOTE: The compaction on top of AquaCell system must not exceed 2300kg per m2. Complete construction of paving and landscaping on the installed system. Attenuation / accumulation tank installation: the design and installation manual provides instructions for AquaCell and method for a complete installation and AquaCell AquaCell Lite systems. Below is a summary walkthrough for the installation of a system designed to cut / exposed storage procedure.

 

Pre-installation: pipes that provide the input stream should be connected to the tank at the level of the base of the AquaCell / AquaCell Lite structure. Execution order: the steps to prepare the space where you will install the attenuation / accumulation tank are:

• dig a hole that allows the correct compaction of the floor and sides.

• The base of the hole must have a smooth surface and be levelled.

• The side walls of the hole must be run with a safe angle or adequate support.

• Check for any soft material at the base of the hole. If any, remove and fill with granular filling material.

• Spread a layer of sand with a thickness of 100 mm, levelling and compacting.

• Place the protective geotextile on the sides and the excavation hole, leaving it ready to cover the top.

• Extend the geomembrane on the protective geotextile around the tank space, covering the base and sides. Leave it prepared to cover the top of the tank. Check that welds are perfectly executed.

• Cover the geomembrane with a new layer of geotextile that will protect the geomembrane from the edges of the tank and inner forces.

• Attach AquaCell units / AquaCell Lite mutually parallel in a "brick wall", as needed, by ensuring that:

• continuous vertical joints are avoided.

• Verify that the marks for the pipes access are in the right place for the inlet and outlet pipes.

• The attachment clips are placed bonding the units of the same level.

• Vertical clips and connectors allow attachment of layers of different levels.

• Complete the installation of the layers of geotextile and geomembrane, making sure that the top is manhole covered.

• The geomembrane must be installed by a professional, by double sewing and checking the perfect welding. • Install the water inlet and outlet to the tank using the appropriate adapters.

• Install the vent pipe of the tank.

• Fill the gap around installation with suitable compacted material in layers of 150mm each.

• Place a thick layer of sand on top of the tank, protecting the units.

• Continue filling with (traffic zones - AquaCell) sub-base compacted material type 1 or 2 in 150mm layers. (Garden area - AquaCell or AquaCell Lite) With excavation material when it is under 75 mm and with a compactation level of 90%.

 

NOTE: compaction on top of AquaCell system must not exceed 2300kg per m2. Complete construction of paving and landscaping on the installed system.
